From Street Vendors to One of A Kind:
Toronto’s Love Affair with Arts and Crafts
The Queen West streetscape includes sidewalk vendors hawking their wares outside trendy shops. It is easy to find the small independent artisan toiling away in a live-work studio producing unusual goods and selling them in trendy shops or from internet storefronts. This exhibit looks at the revitalization of arts and crafts in Toronto and the evolution of craft sales from community centre and church bazaars to large annual shows selling unique products to consumers with deep pockets.
