Home Cooking:

The Importance of Comfort Food

Every culture has its own food traditions. Many new Torontonians bring these traditions with them when they arrive, and communities flock to restaurants that offer a “taste of home”. This exhibit examines the restaurant scene in Toronto and its varied cuisine options. By examining the importance of the “Soul Food” tradition in African-Canadian culture and related ideas in other cultures, we will show how food provides a sense of home and comfort to people from all over the globe.
